The Italian Journey

This workshop will be a fun and exciting exploration of painting with a palette knife. We will spend time talking about technique, color, composition, and exploring the area around the amazing town of Vittorio Veneto, near Venice. Participants should have a love of art and painting, but no one should feel intimidated by style or skill level. Beginners and intermediate painters alike will feel comfortable learning a new technique and challenging themselves. I will offer guidance to bring out your own personal style with useful tips you can take back to your studio.
We will discuss how to simplify your composition, while creating visual impact, and allowing experimentation.  We will have plenty of time for you to create 3-5 paintings, using your sketches and photos from this trip. And you will have one on one time with me to discuss your progress, and ideas.

I was born in Detroit, MI, grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and now live in Fort Worth, TX with my husband Scott and our little dog, Nora. I have studied drawing, painting and printmaking; and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan. I have worked on several art conservation projects over the years, and now paint full time in my studio.
My work is in the collection of BNSF Railway, Hyundai Corporation, Win-Sam, the Samaritan House of Fort Worth, and the Fort Worth Club.
My paintings celebrate the land and rural life. I take the wide open spaces of the countryside, farmland, large skies, and interpret them in my own way with simplified shapes, abstractions, and unique color.
