Terms & Conditions

The Workshop includes:

  • Individual instruction in a group setting course consisting of classroom lectures, demonstrations & practical experience with an English-speaking teacher, as well as written instructional material.
  • Unlimited use of the exclusive studio space in our 14th century palazzo including our spacious lounge with fireplace, library and large private terraced garden.
  • Your own selection of materials, papers, pencils, paintbrushes, pigments, palettes, paper towels and other art supplies.
  • The chance to create your own drawings and frescos, which you may keep at the end of the course.
  • Small groups in order to ensure that students receive personal attention and to facilitate communication.
  • The chance to work in a friendly, relaxed environment.
  • Individual critiques and discussions with guest lecturers.
  • The use of visual aids and comparative images to explain the various artistic and technical processes of the great masters and their relevance to painting today.
  • Individual courses are available upon request.
  • Includes the use of the workshop cell phone for incoming phone calls.
  • Free Use of the studio computer with Internet connection (Wi-Fi) and e-mail access.


Daily Class Schedule:

  • The one-week workshop runs from Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (at least 40 hours of tuition)
  • Unlimited studio time: unlimited all-day use of the art studio and materials. Participants are however, responsible for cleaning up their own work area everyday.
  • Some practical lessons may be accompanied by soft, classical background music.


Tours:

In conjunction with the workshop, Ortolan Studio also provides historical and artistic tours outside of the studio.

  • As part of the one-week workshop we offer the tours of the historical town of Serravalle in Vittorio Veneto and Treviso.
  • All tours are accompanied by an English-speaking tour guide taking in the most important artistic sights and frescos.
  • Walking excursions to medieval villages and places of artistic interest.
  • We offer also a cultural & gourmet tour that includes a visit to the area’s finest wine farms where one can indulge in our world famous Prosecco. Taking advantage of the warm summer weather, we also offer visits to the traditional antique market, the weekly local market and the chance to experience customary celebrations.
  • Additional tours available on request.


Accommodation:

  • Guests are accommodated in a comfortable double room (with private bathroom and kitchenette) in our charming palazzo or in a nearby hotel or small apartment with private bath and cleaning service.
  • A limited number of single rooms or small apartments are available for an additional sum of € 40 per day.
  • All rooms inside the workshops are designated non-smoking, and all windows and doors are protected by a 20 ft. smoke free boundary outside.
  • Laundry facilities, cleaning service, and bikes are available to guests as a courtesy at no additional charge.
  • Bus and taxi service or car rentals are available if needed.
  • Complimentary guides and bottle of Prosecco wine in your room.


Extended Stay:

The extended stay option is for participants who want to take advantage of the Ortolan Studio environment for a week before or after their workshop without being enrolled. This includes accommodation plus studio space, allowing you to continue work you have begun the previous week, or begin working a week before the workshop starts. An extended stay also provides a unique opportunity to explore the many extraordinary cultural resources located near the Studio. Confirmations of an extended stay are accepted on an available-space basis.

  • Participants who wish to arrive early or stay a few days extra-without classes-are required to pay €150 per day.


Meals:

We provide traditional Italian home cooked meals using fresh organic ingredients: needless to say, the food is good, plentiful and all meals are delicious!

  • Continental breakfasts, Italian lunches, and exquisite four-courses dinners are enjoyed in family-style environment where the best Italian cuisine and regional specialties are served up: cheeses, pasta, risotto, fresh organic fruit & vegetables from our very own vegetable patch, not to mention the cakes.
  • Daily wine tasting.
  • The workshop price includes all meals!. Three-meals per day: all meals, beverages, wine, coffee/tea and snacks are included in the price.
  • A special welcome dinner is scheduled for the evening of your arrival.
  • A farewell party dinner is scheduled for the Friday evening before departure.
  • Participants with specific dietary requirements or allergies should notify us when registering.
  • Cooking lessons are available upon request.


Transfers and transportation:

  • Ortolan Studio will provide transport to from the Airport (Venice or Treviso airport) and Vittorio Veneto or Conegliano train station on first Sunday and last Saturday.
  • We will contact you prior to your trip to confirm your arrival time.
  • A € 70 taxi transfer fee to or from the airport is required for participants who wish to arrive earlier or leave later.
  • We provide all local/ground transportation including, bus and train tickets.

Costs:

Included in the cost of the workshops are: Admission services, airport pick-up, welcome and farewell dinners, all meals, accommodation, housing personal assistance provided by the Program Coordinator for your entire visit, tuition, 24 hour emergency support line, cultural activities, excursions & field trips.

  • The all-inclusive price for the one-week workshop including all art supplies, and 6 nights full board accommodation is € 1690.00 per person.
  • The all-inclusive price for non-participating partners is € 1280.00 for 6 nights full board accommodation and tours. Those not enrolled in the Program are however, invited to join us for daily excursions, meals and the evening art appreciation course.


Promotions:

  • When registering for a workshop with a friend with whom you wish to share a room, we offer a 5% discount on the total bill.
  • When registering for a workshop with 6 other people, we offer a 50% discount on your bill.
  • When registering for a workshop with 12 other people, you will be able to attend the workshop free of charge (including accommodation).
  • Please enquire about our special group prices and as to the availability of scholarships/ bursaries.


Credit:

  • Students seeking credit for career enhancement or reimbursement are urged to contact their home institutions to arrange prior approval. Course credit is not automatically transferable to your degree programs. Registration for credit must be finalized before the beginning of the course.


Prices do not include:

  • Airfare.
  • Fees for private car rentals, taxis etc.
  • Excess baggage fees, passport fees, visa fees, customs fees, duties or taxes of any kind.
  • Insurance of any kind, optional sightseeing, postage, packaging, clothing or any other items of personal nature.
  • Child services, child monitoring or daycare.
  • Packing & shipping costs for those who would like to take their work home.


Registration Policy:

  • You are requested to complete the Availability Form to check availability on your selected course, including the dates and number of participants.
  • A reservation confirmation will be emailed to you within 3 working days with information about available discounts.
  • After receiving confirmation of availability, complete the Reservation Form and email it back.
  • Registrations are accepted by Ortolan Studio upon receipt of the completed Reservation form and the non-refundable deposit.
  • Copy of the certificate of the money bank transfers with the official stamp of your bank should be sent by e-mail, mail or fax to the nr. 0039043859796 specifying name of the participant and the name and date of the workshop.
  • Registration deadline is 60 days before the start of the course.
  • Ortolan Studio encourages you to submit your enrolment form as early as possible as places are limited.
  • All applicable discounts will be applied to your final bill.


Payment:

  • A € 500.00 non-refundable deposit is required for workshop and accommodation reservation.
  • Reservations for workshops must be paid in full at least 60 days before the course starting date. If the balance due is not received 60 days prior to the starting date, the participant/ payee is at risk of forfeiting their reservation and nonrefundable deposit.
  • If you sign up less than 60 days before the start, full payment is due immediately.
  • Payments for workshops are accepted in US dollars and Euros via wire transfer – please email us for instructions.
  • PAY ATTENTION: all paid fees shall be net of all bank costs and commissions


Cancellation Policy:

  • In the event of any cancellations, you are required to contact Ortolan Studio via e-mail or telephone, at least 60 days before the course starting date, notifying us of the said cancellation, at which time you will be offered the option of partaking in a course at a later date. Date changes for canceled workshops received less than 60 days before the course starting date are not guaranteed and are subject to the discretion of the Ortolan Studio management and the possibility of filling the place on the course. Confirmation of cancellations will be confirmed via email within 48 hours. The new reservation for the same kind of workshop must be made within one year of the canceled workshop.
  • In the unlikely event of courses being cancelled by Ortolan Studio, a complete refund, including the € 500.00 deposit, will be issued within 30 days of the cancellation notice.


Insurance:

  • We strongly suggest that all workshop participants take out travel insurance before they depart for Italy. As a minimum requirement he policy should cover medical emergencies, lost baggage, transportation problems and theft.


Privacy Policy & Ortolan Studio service dedication:

  • Your privacy is guaranteed. Our staff and instructors are not permitted to provide any details about our participants before, during or after their workshop.
  • Our mission is to provide a unique learning opportunity and an unforgettable authentic Italian experience.

  • Ortolan Studio has a strict non-discrimination policy and admits participants of any ethnicity, color, religion, creed, age, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, disability or national origin.
