The facade had been subjected to two
interventions; one in 1469 and the other in 1913. The family Racola
de Fontanellis, whose coat of arms appears on a decorative element
on top of the polifora, commissioned the first intervention.
The fresco paintings were also executed during this period and
belong to Dario da Treviso, whose signature is inscribed under the
balcony together with the inscription: “1469/ DESIDERIUM IMPIORUM
PERIBIT/ DARIUS P.”
In 1913, the former owner eng. Francesco Trojer intervened on the
part of the palazzo corresponding to the south spans, integrating
the intonaco and the stones elements according to the original
decoration and adding his own coat of arms.
The restoration of the façade of Palazzo Trojer began under the
direction of the Superintendency of Monuments, Fine Arts and
Environmental Heritage of the region Veneto, with financing of
Pianca S.p.a. and in collaboration with:
Malta Centre for Restoration – Malta
Hochschule für Bildende Künste – Dresden – Germany
Istituto Veneto per i Beni Culturali – Venezia
Chemical and physical testing was conducted to determine
conservation problems and causes of decay and the biological growth
was identified. During the cleaning phase large areas of polichromy
came to the surface.
Analyses revealed the composition of the various carbon deposits on
stones, frescoes and plaster, the composition of the traces of gold
gilding remaining on the capitals as well as the presence of stone
polychromy
