Alma Ortolan Studio promotes workshops in the
traditional art of fresco painting and conservation, a
unique program, for those who want to expand their
knowledge about these subjects, while having a Wonderful
Italian Experience.
This workshop combines a creative learning experience
while taking advantage of the rich artistic heritage and
stunning landscape that the Veneto Region has to offer..
With its multitude of historical buildings adorned with
Fresco paintings it is the perfect place to learn and be
inspired.
The workshop offers full day activities in an intensive
course devoted to the techniques, materials, history and
conservation theory of fresco painting. The activities
will include a series of lectures followed by a
demonstration and hands-on practical session.
You'll
learn the authentic Renaissance Buon Fresco technique.
Using a mobile support you can create your own fresco to
take home with you!
For your learning comfort, the Studio provides all the
relevant art supplies and keeps a library of essential
volumes in English in addition to a slide collection.
The courses will be held in the Palazzo by Alma Ortolan
and assistants, who will guarantee individual attention
in an intimate and informal group setting. Classes are
in English. However, Prof. Ortolan speaks Italian,
Spanish, Polish and French.
On the successful completion of your course you will
receive a certificate in fresco painting techniques from
Ortolan Studio.

second Conservation Workshop on:
The two-week workshop will be held in the monastery of
San Giovanni Battista in Serravalle and it will focus on
examination and documentation of the cloister’s
elements.
It will include a two-day workshop entitled
Nanotechnology in Wall Painting Conservation: Nanolime
as a New Tool for Consolidation led by Prof. Luigi Dei
of the University of Florence.
This will be followed by
a one-day lecture on Bio-Deterioration of Monumental
Rocks: Decay Mechanisms & Control Methods taught by Dr. Piero Tiano of the Italian National Council for Research
(CNR)

The three-week workshop in Studio Art in Fresco Painting
and Photography -Practice & Theory- has been offered in
2006 by the TCU -Texas Christian University- of Forth
Worth, Texas.
