Alma Ortolan
Studio features three different but interrelated branches of
Fine Art:
THE ARCHITECTURAL
AND FINE ART CONSERVATION PROJECTS
Since 1992 Alma Ortolan Studio has been
working on national and international projects of growing
responsibility and prestige.
Ranging from the early Christian frescoes in the Roman Catacombs
until the contemporary wall paintings,
the experience and theoretical background
which has been acquired by Prof. Alma Ortolan distinguishes her
among fine art professionals.
SELECTED CONSERVATION PROJECTS
RECONSTRUCTION OF
THE PAINTINGS
OF TEH ROYAL BOX AND BALCONY, 2002-2003

In 1996
the famous Opera House “La Fenice” in Venice burnt down,
resulting in devastating fire damage.
In
December 2003 the reconstruction was completed, “where
it was, how it was” – uttered the Mayor Massimo Cacciari.

Thanks to the highly professional experience and skills
on traditional painting techniques, Alma Ortolan Studio
had been selected for the historical reconstruction of
the paintings of the Royal Box and the lower part of the
Balcony.

PALAZZO TROYER, SERAVALLE, VITTORIO VENETO
FACADE CONSERVATION OF PALAZZO TROYER

Palazzo
Troyer is situated at the heart of the historical town
of Serravalle and is one of the most significant
examples of late gothic Venetian Palazzo in the Veneto
area. |
|
It
was built in 1469 by the noble family Raccola de
Fontanellis.
In 1913 the former owner Engineer Francesco Troyer
intervened on the part corresponding to the south
spans, integrating the original façade with its perfect
replica and adding his own coat of arms The project has provided an extensive investigation and
documentation on the decay conditions of the façades.
The results of such assessments were applied to
determine the conservation solutions of the fresco
painted façades and its architectural stone elements. The project is published in: La facciata dipinta di

CATACOMBS OF
PRISCILLA IN ROME
RESEARCH & CONSERVATION PROJECT
2007-in progress

This
project was commissioned by the “Papal Commission for
Sacral Archaeology” in Rome, Vatican State.
Prof.
Alma Ortolan worked as Chief Conservator and
|
|
Technical
Manager of Impresa Pellicciari Ltd, the company in charge for the project.
Beside the conservation, a team of experts has been
carrying on a long-term research project on tuff
consolidation. The aim is to investigate in situ the
state of deterioration of the material and evaluate the
chemical procedures that may stabilize the hypogenous
tuff in the catacomb. The project involves formal
research partnership with Institutions
ICVBC CNR
in Florence (Italian National Research
Council) and company
‘Arcadia Ricerche’ in Venice. |
CATACOMBS OF SANTA
TECLA IN ROME
RESEARCH & CONSERVATION PROJECT
2007-in progress

The
project -commissioned by the “Papal Commission for
Sacral Archaeology” in Rome, Vatican State- takes origin
from the cooperation between University Cà Foscari in
Venice and the conservation Dept. of the Impresa
Pellicciari Ltd.
For the first time, a Quality Control System will be
applied in a hypogeum site in the evaluation of
conservation materials and procedures . |

centre of the historical town of Serravalle.
The discovery of the frescoes in 2006 of the 15th

history of Art and Architecture, thus confirming the
richness and wealth state of the local area. |
