THE HISTORICAL
CENTRE OF SERRAVALLE

Serravalle
means “Close the valley”. It is a medioeval borough born around
the castle of the Da Camino family, first mentioned in 1175.
Capital of a large territory, it reached wealth and fama doing
trades between german lands and Venice during the late Middle
Ages. In that period, many conspicuous families built gothic
palaces, of wich one of the most important is palazzo Trojer;
this explains the richness of the precious materials found on
the façade, like gildings, frescoes and marbles.
Among other gothic palaces it is remarkable
the seat of Alma Ortolan Studio, in the inner town, in front of
the Medieval castle.
